Why do you call me, Lord, Lord and do not do what I say?

In Luke 6:46, these are profound words of Jesus that should make us examine ourselves. Our response to this question will define our relationship with Jesus. Have we truly accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior? Are we real, authentic Christians, doers of the Word and not hearers only or are we deceiving ourselves?

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." -James 1:22. In other words, when we read the bible or hear the Word, are we doing it? Or are we fooling ourselves thinking that because we go to church regularly, we prayed the "prayer of acceptance, and we pray every meal we are saved?

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ -Matthew 7:21-23

It is a fearful thing to face the Lord one day and He tells you, "Away from me, you evildoer, I do not know you." God is a personal God. He wants a relationship with you. If He is not your personal God right now, it is not too late.

Too big a prize is at stake here, my friend - your Eternal life.
